ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY STANDARDS (EQS)



A standard may be defined as a qualitative and quantitative statement for implementation and preservation of some desired quality of product or practice.
Environmental quality standards can be defined as qualitative / quantitative statement of environmental parameters for the preservation of some desired quality of the environment.

Environmental Quality Standard serves as:

  • Uniformity of practice
  • A guideline for concerned agencies
  • A tool for environmental pollution control and environmental management officials in enforcing strict pollution control measures
  • Proper application of appropriate legislation for better protection of legal, sociological, health and economic interest.
  • Check future degradation

  • Provision of current authoritative guidance on good practice, simplification in the manufacturing of materials and components
