The main contents of an environmental management plan are:

·   Impact mitigation strategy—mitigation measures to reduce or eliminate adverse impacts and compensation or offset measures for irreversible and residual impacts
·        Enhancement of positive impacts
·        Environmental monitoring
·        Emergency response plan
·        Institutional arrangements
·        Schedule of implementation and costs

Impact Mitigation Strategy:

Mitigation Measures:

·        Adoption of protective measures
·        Selection of alternatives which includes routes, location, technology, scale including no project options
·        Change in engineering design
·        Modification of activities
·        Change in construction procedure/materials
·        Adoption of supplementary programs

Compensation or Offset Measures:

·    Resettlement of affected people with the guiding principles of pre project living conditions
·        Cash compensation
·        Restoration of damages
·        Development of alternative resources to offset loss
·        Replacement of lost resources
·        Replacement of lost production

Enhancement of Positive Impacts:

·        Specific environmental enhancement measures
·        Replacement or up gradation of affected resources
·        Technical support to increase production
·        Training support to effective management of resources and productivity
·        Introducing community management practices
